THEOS WORK INC. / Pwoje Espwa (Project Hope) was founded in 1998 by Father Marc Boisvert O.M.I. in response to the overwhelming plight of children coming to him seeking help. The original site was a small house, providing safety, shelter and food to six boys.
The mission then, as it is today , ...to alleviate the devestating effects of poverty on children... set the focus for a multifaceted program with the following goals:
· Provide basic care : shelter, clothing ,food and medical care
· Provide formation through education , vocational training and holistic personal development
· Provide for adult independence through education and job/career counseling
Today, Project Hope is based on a 140 acre plot of fertile land , known as Hope Village, located outside the city of Les Cayes. This farming village is home to more than 600 children and provides services, such as 2500 meals served daily. Espwa operates four schools to offer free education for approximately 1200 boys and girls. Vocational training provides a chance for teens and young adults to learn practical skills. A small clinic provides medical care for the community.
