PWOJE ESPWA (Project Hope)
Pwoje Espwa, was founded in 1998 by Father Marc Boisvert O.M.I. in response to the overwhelming plight of homeless children coming to him seeking help. The original site was a small house, providing safety, shelter and food to six boys.
The mission then, as it is today -- to alleviate the devastating effects of poverty on children --set the focus for a multifaceted program with the following goals:
ツキ Provide basic care: shelter, clothing, food and medical care
ツキ Provide formation through education, vocational training and holistic personal development
ツキ Provide for adult independence through education and job/career counseling
Today, the primary site of Pwoje Espwa includes 140 acres of fertile farmland, known as Vilaj Espwa (Creole translation meaning Hope Village), located outside the city of Les Cayes. It is home to 600+ boys and girls. More than1200 children are enrolled in our free elementary and secondary schools while otherchildren receive tuition assistance or scholarships. Pwoje Espwa networks throughout southern
Haiti to impact thousands of destitute children and families.
More children are waiting for our help, but our resources are limited. You can make a difference in the life of a child. Your contribution can help us help them!
